Skills : Technical

I have many years of programming experience and am quick to adapt to new languages. I mostly develop in PHP 5, Javascript and Actionscript 3 (Flash).

I also have experience with other languages, some I have used in the past, some I am learning now.

I manage a Linux web server which I use to host liamnewmarch.co.uk and my third-year university project videoblip.tv, and am not afraid of using a command line.

Skills : Design

I was taught design principles using Adobe CS3 and CS4 software. This involved working on design briefs to a deadline, occasionally working in groups as a team. This taught me valuable skills like research, generating ideas, delegating tasks and presenting a finalised product.

Skills : Theoretical

My University course focused on the history and social implications of communication technologies, particularly New Media. I learned about putting modern technologies into perspective to know their potential. I also learned how to generate ideas as a team and develop them into viable products as well as the importance of planning and documentation.

Experience

Feb to May 2010

As one of the strongest programmers on our course I was offered a job helping second year students with their projects - mainly ActionScript based; some in ColdFusion. This was an excellent opportunity that allowed me to think about and solve programming problems that I might not ordinarly come across, as well as making me think on my feet, all whilst helping others.

June 2009 to Present

I manage the web server I use to host my personal website liamnewmarch.co.uk, and my third-year project videoblip.tv. The server runs Linux, Apache, MySQL & PHP configuration and has taught me about domain registration, DNS management and a broader understanding of what is and isn't possible on the web.
